Stop. Thief!

C.S. Lewis said, “You are never too old to set another goal or to dream a new dream.”

I know. It’s probably his most profound quote, right? Of all the C.S. Lewis quotes out there, why choose something so amazingly obvious? Because it is the obvious stuff that we so often forget.

As long as we have sound thoughts in our heads, then we can dream. And if we can dream, then we can set goals. And if we can set goals, then we can achieve those goals.

It’s never too late to get started on your dream.

To those of you who dare to dream, be warned, there are thieves out there that want to steal your dream from you. No, this isn’t a Samsung vs. Apple dispute over who invented the rectangular black phone. Dream stealers don’t even want your dream. They want to swipe it from you, throw it on the ground, stomp and spit on it, and then walk away

That’s right. Just when you define your dream, map it, set realistic-stepping-stone goals they start lurking. Right after you put your dream board together and cut out all these awesome pictures of things you are working towards, then the thieves creep into your house and start picking through your stuff. Just when you set a date for your goals and take the hardest of steps; the first one, they start poking you with their little black thief umbrella. And at the very moment when you work up the courage to tell someone what your dream is and how you are going to get from point A to point B, the make their presence known, pop our from behind your favorite recliner and yell in your face, “THAT WON’T WORK, YOU IDIOT!!!”

You’re left standing there in your living room, shoulders hunched over, dream board bent and fallen on the ground. Your grand, perfect plan has been shredded to pieces by someone who has never accomplished anything in their life other than putting people down so they can try to rise up.

It is at this point that you have a choice, dreamer. Do you let them shatter your dream? Do you let them take away your hope? Do you let them crush your belief in your self?

Or do you recognize who they are, realize how little power they have over you, and pursue your dream with more determination than ever before?

It’s up to you, and only you. You have to choose.
